Shedd Aquarium – Chicago
We arrived at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL after a rather “harrowing” drive around Chicago “with the door of our trailer standing wide open” as we drove through construction zones and Jersey barricades the entire way!! Needless to say, we were ready to rest for awhile.
We drove into the really neat town of Wheaton and enjoyed a tasty dinner at an Irish Pub named Muldoon’s. However, the heavens opened up on us as we made a mad dash to our cars after dinner. Strong winds and powerful rain storms followed us back to the Fairgrounds, but soon settled down for a quiet evening.
The next morning we “braved” the Chicago traffic to drive in to the Shedd Aquarium down on the waterfront. As we drove closer, we realized we were in the middle of a “Puerto Rican” parade!!! It was “Puerto Rican Day, and we didn’t know it!!!!
The Shedd Aquarium is very impressive, and housed in excess of 32,000 ‘full time residents”. Thousands of species of sea life are contained in their natural habitats throughout the Aquarium.
The Chicago Skyline and Lake Michigan were an awesome sight, and we were happy to have been able to view it, and get lots of pics.
We returned to the Fairgrounds looking forward to some good rest that evening. However, we were treated to the sounds of a wedding reception, and a retirement party being held at the same site. Oh, the joys of camping!!!
Tomorrow we will head to the Blackhawk Campground in Milton, WI to check out the sights around that area.
